I needed to go back to basics.  I got what I asked for.

Behold the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.  Have mercy on us.

If you have 23 minutes, listen to this Homily (3/4/12: My Beloved Son) from Father Mike Schmitz..  If you have 5 minutes, listen to the last five minutes. If you have 1 minute, read my transcript below.

It is so beautiful, so painful and so pure.

Sometimes we go to confession and it seems so easy. We go in, dump our sins, get God’s grace, and get outta there. It’s like free Grace.

Yes, God’s grace is free, but it is not easy.

Sure it may be easy for me, or easy for you — we just walk in, name our sins, receive forgiveness and walk out.

But it is not easy for God.

Every time I go to confession. The price of that, was the death of God.

Ever sin that I have committed. The price of that was the death of God.

Is there something God cannot do and will not do?

He will not stop waiting for you and waiting for me in confession.

When the priest holds his hands over you, Archbishop Fulton Sheen once said – That when the priest holds his hands above your head and says I absolve you in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, the blood of Christ drips off his fingers.

Because that’s what it costs.

His only beloved son.

The lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world

and who takes away my sins.
